Hyundai Ioniq 6, 2022 - present
It's common for car manufacturers to have a uniform style for their cars. This is even more noticeable in the range of electric cars, which tend to become as similar to each other as two drops of water. Let's say ID. the electric car series at Volkswagen or the EQ series at Mercedes-Benz. And here is the Hyundai company, which presented the angular sporty Ioniq 5 model a year ago, now it surprises us with the completely different stylistic Ioniq 6 model. The new Hyundai electric car looks completely different - it is an extremely sleek family car with smooth rounded lines, an elongated shape with a sloping rear end. It might be a bit strange, but this design of the car forms a clear message - it is an extremely aerodynamic electric car designed for maximum driving distance and maximum satisfaction of family needs. This is the most aerodynamic shape of the car. Thus, the most efficient version of the Ioniq 6 with rear-wheel drive and a 77.4 kWh battery can cover a distance of up to 610 kilometers. When choosing the version with all-wheel drive, the driving distance reaches 583 km. These data were recorded using the WLTP test procedure. The most efficient is the rear-wheel-drive version with a standard 53 kWh battery, which consumes an average of just 13.9 kWh/100 km. In theory, this Hyundai Ioniq 6 model is the most efficient electric car on the market today. The E-GMP modular platform of Hyundai company's electric vehicle architecture used for the production of this car and the extremely low coefficient of air resistance achieved due to the design of the car's body made it possible to achieve such data. The Ioniq 6 has a drag coefficient of just 0.21, the lowest of any vehicle produced by the company and one of the lowest on the market. The coefficient of air resistance is also reduced by such engineering solutions as the active air flaps located at the bottom, in the middle of the front bumper. When the battery heats up, this valve opens and cools it, when it is not needed, it is closed. In addition, the body of the electric car has almost no sharp corners to disturb the airflow. To achieve this, the car developers hid the door handles, which are integrated into the doors. Also, small digital side mirrors-cameras, which create significantly less air resistance than classic mirrors. Another great feature of the car is the incredibly long wheelbase of 2950 mm. This solution allows to ensure a particularly spacious interior not only for the passengers sitting in the front, but also in the back. At any position of the front seat, there is enough space in the back even for a person with very long legs. True, there is less headroom for passengers sitting in the rear seats. This is a tribute to the car's excellent aerodynamics, which requires a sloping rear end. When it comes to space, it may be lacking for travelers or those looking to transport bulky cargo. No matter how it looks, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is not a hatchback, so it has a classic sedan trunk. The trunk capacity of the car is quite narrow and deep and reaches only 401 liters. True, there is another trunk in the front, the capacity of which is 45 liters in models with rear-wheel drive, and even less in models with all-wheel drive - just 14.5 liters.
