General Motors has finally officially unveiled its revolutionary Chevrolet Volt ready for production. This car will be able to run solely on an electric motor, its batteries will only need 16 kWh to fully charge, and the accumulated energy will be enough to drive 64 km. What makes the Chevrolet Volt so unique? Basically, it’s a real electric car. The wheels of this car are directly driven only by an electric motor that develops 150 hp equivalent and reaches 370 Nm of torque. The maximum speed of this machine is 160 km / h. The engine is powered by a lithium-ion battery of more than 220 cells, which will require 16 kWh of electricity to fully charge. According to the manufacturer, Americans will be able to charge the car by plugging it into a simple electrical outlet. With a 240 V connection, this will take 3 hours and 120 V 15 A it will take 8 hours. When the battery is fully charged, the Chevrolet Volt will be able to drive 64 km in urban conditions without emitting any harmful gases. For longer trips, the car's internal combustion engine, which will not turn the wheels, will charge the battery.
