The premium electric SUV market is hot right now, with the likes of the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, Mercedes EQE recently appearing, recently joined by the Volvo EX90 and even the Lotus Eletre. Now the Swedish-Chinese company Polestar (Polestar, like Volvo, belongs to the Chinese company Geely) is throwing its trump card - the big crossover Polestar 3. The car is produced on the SPA2 platform, which it shares with the new Volvo EX90. The car is really big - the total length of the Polestar 3 is as much as 4900 mm, the width with mirrors is 2120 mm, the height is 1614 mm, the wheelbase is as much as 2985 mm, and the ground clearance is 201 mm. Polestar 3 with a trunk of 484 liters surpasses the competitor BMW iX by 16 liters. When the rear seats are folded down, the volume of the trunk increases to 1411 liters. An optional front luggage compartment for charging cables adds another 32 litres. Depending on the modification, the total weight of the car is 2584-2670 kg, the permissible weight of the towed trailer is 2200 kg. Despite the Polestar 3's similar size to the Volvo EX90, the Polestar is exclusively a 5-seater and only available with all-wheel drive. The car's electric power plant has two motors - one on each axle, with a total maximum power of 360 kW (489 hp) and a torque of 840 Nm. From 0 to 100 km/h Polestar 3 accelerates in 5 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 210 km/h. The rear axle is equipped with a torque distribution system - two independent clutches can transmit power to both wheels differently. When full power is not needed, the rear electric motor can be switched off and the Polestar 3 becomes front-wheel drive only. Versions with the "Performance Pack" package have even more impressive power - 380 kW (517 hp) and 910 Nm, and the acceleration time to 100 km/h is reduced to 4.7 seconds. All Polestar 3 models are fitted with large 107kWh batteries that allow a range of 610km, although the Performance Pack reduces this to 560km. Thanks to the 250 kW charging capability, the battery can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. Charging can be two-way - the car can also feed energy back into the grid. Polestar 3 has advanced electronic driver assistants that receive information from five radars, five external cameras and twelve ultrasonic sonars. The car has an internal radar system that can detect the presence of children and pets in the car and adjust the climate settings accordingly. Also, an eye tracking camera that allows you to determine the driver's fatigue - let's say if the driver loses consciousness, the car would stop safely by itself. An additional "Pilot Pack" package can be purchased, which will complement the car parking assistance function, adaptive cruise control and information output on the screen. This is important because the Polestar 3 has problems with rearward visibility, with the wide rear pillars creating significant blind spots.
