The Volvo XC90 is a mid-size luxury SUV built on the P2 platform, which it shares with the first-generation Volvo S80 and other large Volvo cars. The XC90 is the most popular Volvo car in the world and is designed to compete with the BMW X5 and Mercedes ML-Class. In 2003, the model had two engines - a 2.5T and a T6. The 2.5T is a 5-cylinder, 20-valve turbo engine with 205 hp (153 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. The T6 is a 2.9 L 24-valve 6-cylinder engine with two turbines and 268 hp (200 kW) and 380 Nm of torque. Later, a new Ford / Yamaha co-developed V8 engine with 4.4 L 311 hp (232 kW) and 441 Nm of torque was introduced. Versions with both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive were produced. The XC90 is extremely popular in North America (here it is the most popular European SUV), so it is not for nothing that it won the 2003 SUV title in the United States. As usual, Volvo is known for its excellent safety features, it is also known as the SUV that has passed the rollover test the best, while many other luxury models do not care about this area. While the car isn’t as stylish as the BMW X5 or as impressive as the Range Rover, it is unbeatable in terms of practicality, comfort, spaciousness and safety. After all, this is what must be a real SUV.
