The new Skoda Octavia challenges the all-loved and respected Volkswagen Golf. The new Skoda model welcomes customers with a subtle updated design and German quality. The Octavia focuses on practical space, practicality and reliability. Compared to the previous generation, the new car is 90mm longer, 45mm wider, and the wheelbase has been increased by 108mm (to 2686mm). The Octavia model has the most spacious interior in its class - the cabin length reaches as much as 1782 mm. In addition, the 590-liter boot also outperforms many competitors. All this will be highly appreciated by fans of this brand. True, the car is no longer as cheap as it used to be - Skoda knows its value, which the buyer pays for. The design of the car will not breathe new winds - on the one hand, the subtle style that meets many tastes and cherishes the company's traditions is somewhat reminiscent of the Audi A4 models of the last decade. On the other hand, the sculptural Skoda lines attract with their subtlety and elegance. You will not add anything and you will not take anything away. The interior has become much more modern and attractive, and the soft plastic makes it really pleasant. Only the plastic between the front seats is cool, but it also doesn’t smell cheap. The Skoda Octavia is equipped with a wide range of engines. These include a 1.4-liter TSI engine with 120 hp, a 1.8-liter TSI engine with 177 hp and 1.6-liter TDI engines that generate 109 hp in GreenLine versions and consume just 3.4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. . The most powerful version of the RS will have a 2.0-liter turbo engine borrowed from the Volkswagen Golf GTI. On the road, the Skoda Octavia behaves safely and predictably, although it does not feature the fire that the new Volkswagen Golf already boasts. The steering could provide more information to the driver, but it certainly won’t bother the static Skoda driver.

Car description
Straight to the point- leader of its class comparing by price and quality. Base version will offer everything you need for everyday driving. Extras are nice but not necessarily. I ordered side airbags, heated seats and heated windscreen, parking control and better center console. First thing that’s worth mentioning is practicality. Doesn’t matter if we talking about big boot, lot’s of useful interior compartments, everything being in a right place or about tens of rational decisions. I can’t say that it’s a most exciting car in my life but I have it over a year now and there wasn’t a day that I would regret buying it ( except maybe I’d like more powerfull engine). Clever invested money into clever car. It certainly not gonna help you to pull girls, burn tyres or show of in front of your friends, but it will make excited those who are driving every day and want a reliable car for a good price. I can only see small bad things: 1. Big mirrors are useful in the city but when driving faster start annoying with their noise. 2. Breaks are good (even too good) so when breaking too much- your face ends up nearly headbutting the dashboard. 3. Badge and attitude (Skoda is not appreciated)
Performance
1.6 TDI Greenline is very economical. Sometimes I forget last time I filled it up. Since car has a manual gearbox, sometimes it’s possible to drive it more aggressively. Warning for those who drive mostly out of town or on motorways, they should choose more powerful version. Because even though it is nippy, it takes longer to accelerate to higher speeds. But can’t expect more when doing over 50 mpg in town. If looking for speed, pick 2L diesel or VRS models.
Reliability, running costs
Badge. This is the main thing why this car depreciates fast. Popular opinion is that Skoda- it’s a cheap copy of Volkswagen. And it’s a pity because many people overpay when chose it over Skoda. I heard opinions that Skodas are boring, well, there is VRS models. If that doesn’t suit you, choose more expensive alternatives. Service is not expensive. Can’t say anymore because the car is still nearly new.
Recommendations to buyers
Base model- has nearly everything you need. If you can afford it, add multifunction screen. It adds a lot to cars value. Think about the need of any extras, because there is things that you will never need or will be able to get it cheaper. If driven mostly in the city, choose most economical engine.
