The name Twingo is derived from the words Twist, Swing and Tango and embodies the car’s cheerful, youthful character. It’s a car with a pretty bold design. The Twingo was designed by lead designer Patrick le Quement, who believed that Renault was riskier not to take risks at all. The Twingo was introduced in 1992 and has been in production for 15 years. It was a very successful model with several revolutionary solutions - a centrally designed instrument panel with a speedometer, fuel gauge and clock. This is how the Twingo had a sliding rear seat that could be moved to increase the luggage compartment or space for the rear passengers ’feet. Many parts of the Twingo like that of the JB1 gearbox, brakes, engine are shared with other Renault models.
