Renault Laguna III is produced with 5-door hatchback, 5-door station wagon and 3-door coupe. This third generation is produced on the D platform, which is shared with Nissan Altima and Nissan Murano cars. Eventually, the Laguna will also have a coupe body to compete with its nearest competitor, the Peugeot 407 Coupe. In all engine versions, the New Laguna is equipped with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, which ensures driving comfort, plasticity and dynamism. The saloon of the New Laguna blends perfectly with its elegant exterior. Significantly better quality materials and well-thought-out car trim elements add to the impression of high quality. The Laguna salon is an expression of unspoiled and calm elegance. With this car, Renault clearly hopes to increase the impression of quality and luxury - areas where the company has not been very strong so far.
I have no regrets about my Renault Laguna which is a very comfy vehicle to drive with very comfortable seats and a soft chassis that doesn’t require much attention and care. No point to believe in such gossips as if French made cars are unreliable, constantly breakdown and require heavy expenses. That’s far from being true. I had VW Golf, Vauxhall so I have something to compare with and believe me Renault is a lot better in terms of design or the feeling of comfort it provides. Of course let’s not forget that it’s not Lexus or Mercedes-Benz … Generally I can say that car repairs are quite cheap, prices you pay for the parts don’t “bite” either (a very similar situation with VW or Vauxhall), but the engine works more quiet and can be considered as reliable (just like any other French diesel engines). Some say if a French car is under repair it gives more headaches for the mechanic since it’s very difficult to reach parts that need to be replaced or fixed. To my mind, such opinion is worthless.
Performance
Engine: 1.9 dCi. It has already run 150.000 miles and as far as I know without any major complaints. The same probably could be said about Volvo, Mitsubishi or Nissan vehicles that use Renault engine.
