Kia's assault continues - this time the company is targeting the VW Golf, Ford Focus or Opel Astra. It is an extremely competitive class and the battle for space in it is extremely fierce. Still, Cee’d has something to offer - first of all, we notice a really nice car design. The overgrown “nose” of the car and the extended LED headlights smoothly envelop the sides of the Cee’d, with a gracefully rising line of side windows on the side, all lines and proportions in perfect harmony. The car evokes better emotions than the VW Golf or Ford Focus, but is very similar to the new Opel Astra. The interior of the Cee’d is less expressive, but the devices are arranged in a clear European order - everything is logical, clear, comfortable and high quality. True, the aggressive-looking hatchback on the road still needs to stretch - the steering wheel is too light when cornering, and the car's nose is reluctant to engage in sharp turns. Nor can the engine range offer anything you would not find at any other manufacturer of modern golf cars. However, the Kia Cee’d bribes with ease of driving, relatively comfortable suspension, ample cabin space and one of the largest luggage compartments in its class (380 liters - all 64 liters more than the Ford Focus’s boot). So a newbie is worth noting no matter what price range interests you, but it’s not a good alternative for lovers of sportiness and dynamism.
When I got it, there was zero mileage on it. Since then I’ve done 20.000 miles. No major problems occurred. The Kia cee’d is a front wheel drive motor car, quite dynamic and has a 1.6 CRDi engine that delivers 94 kW of power. Fuel consumption – approximately 51 mpg. It’s not very suitable for bumpy roads, but in general I’d describe it as a very comfortable car. What is more, cabin is premium and this includes: leather heated seats, heated steering wheel, dual climate control, keyless entry and start, usb and aux in, also climate control and cruise control. The cabin to my mind is very well put together and it is easy to use controls that are situated on the steering wheel. Although the exterior design is quite classy and handsome, the interior trim is cheap. Due to low quality of materials scratches can be easily done.
Performance
The Kia Cee’d 1.6 petrol engine with 94 kW of power can be claimed as being a very economical version. When overtaking other vehicles no discomfort is felt. Since it’s a brand new vehicle, no problems have ever bothered me. Average fuel consumption – 50 mpg, if you tend to drive more economically then it’ll consume up to 56 mpg. Comparing to VW, Kia’s engine works more quietly.
Reliability, running costs
What’s good about it is that you’ll have your vehicle being fully inspected only at every 20.000 miles.
