The S-Type is a mid-size luxury car built on a platform shared with the Lincoln LS. The S-Type R, which was expected to fight the BMW M5 and Mercedes e55, was also produced. The R version has a V8 390 hp engine and was able to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 5.6 s. In 2004, the S-Type was slightly upgraded - the radiator grille, taillights were replaced, the aluminum bonnet and a new 2.7l V6 diesel engine were received.

Jaguar S-Type 2.7 Bi Turbo diesel (206 bhp, 435 nm torque) 6 gears ZF gearbox. Great car. Very quiet, comfortable, can't feel the speed at all. Good acceleration, first car that doesn't lack power, even though I had few more powerful cars (with higher bhp)! Fast, smooth working gearbox. This car can be driven fast to have fun, or just cruise in it and feel like you're in a boat. Interior is good quality, solid built, large touch screen, real wood, I think it's a polished walnut, which creates luxury feel. I personally really like exterior- classic look never gets old. Suspension is really very comfortable. Overall I can see only good things. If you're buying a car like this, you shouldn't be concerned about fuel consumption. But if anyone is interested- during the winter, urban consumption is 14-15 mpg, 23 mpg if driven economical. Extra urban up to 60 mph- 40 mpg. From 60 mph- 26-31 mpg. Great car, really recommend it!
Performance
You can feel the power through the full scale of the revs. There's nothing special, it needs to be looked after like any other car. Needs good quality oil, filters etc. Timing belt, not the chain! 2 turbos doesn't give any problems. For people who are crazy for power, possible to take out eco friendly filters and get extra 20 bhp. Possible to modify car's ECU. Will be 260bhp then. Btw engine sounds very nice. To compare with other cars: it's faster then Saab 9-5 aero 247 bhp automatic, Audi all road 2.7 L bi turbo petrol automatic.
Reliability, running costs
The most expensive was gearbox service. Oil has to be only original and it costs 40 pounds. It needs 11 liters. Plus filter, gaskets… I didn't get the gearbox serviced because there was any issues with it, just done it for myself. All possible oils, liquids, filters were serviced just after purchasing the car. Prices of suspension parts might be a bit higher but nothing major, similar to the other cars of the same class.
