The G35 is built on the Nissan FM platform and is shared with the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti FX. Motor Trend magazine's G35 was named Car of the Year 2003 and is revered by both the media and consumers as a good alternative to more expensive sports cars from Germany and the United States. The excellent, widely used and appreciated VQ35DE engine is mounted on the front of the G35 and drives the rear wheels, with a perfectly balanced weight of 52% at the front and 48% at the rear.
I have 2004 G35 saloon around months now, no big problems yet. Very comfortable for long trips, lots of room at the back with adjustable seats, same at the front. I am 6 foot 3 and I have plenty of room. Suspension is soft enough. Good and powerful Bose sound system with subwoofer. If you want to race it, it's possible to turn off the traction control and using triptronic change gears yourself. That way you can use all the power and burn tires a bit :)
Performance
Bought it with gas conversion, everything works fine. The great sound of the engine won't let you forget what you're driving.
Reliability, running costs
Petrol-gas, does 18-23 mpg in the city, 28-33 on the motorway. Mpg depends on the driving style and wheels with tyres. For example with 18 in alloys trip computer was showing 37 mpg on the motorway. When I fitted 20 in wheels, went down to 30 mpg. This was shown by the trip computer based on petrol. Normally it does 20 mpg with mixed driving. Changed front break pads and Lambda oxygen sensor second hand and that's it. Deprecation is not big.
