Volkswagen ID.3, 2019 - present
"With ID.3, we are starting the third most important strategic phase of our company after Beetle and Golf," this is the message that Volkswagen's management is sending us. Indeed, the name of this car means that - the third stage in the history of this concern. At least that's what Volkswagen expects. It is difficult to understand the importance of this model. It is important for several reasons - first of all, the time has come for one of the most famous names in the history of motoring to launch a full-fledged electric car, especially since Tesla, Jaguar, Audi, etc. have reigned in the market so far. luxury cars. In addition, Volkswagen's recent failure in America to falsify emissions data has severely damaged its reputation and the group urgently needs to "reload" and convince customers that it was a mistake and will not happen again. An electric car and yet built using only renewable energy is the best way to do it. Indeed, ID.3 will reach customers without carbon emissions, with both battery and car production focused on this goal. For example, only renewable energy is used in the production process, and unavoidable pollution will be offset by climate protection projects. We think Volkswagen is tackling another moment with this model - the design of the car looks really great compared to the extremely conservative Golf model, which is having a hard time dealing with increased competition. So the company really hopes to replace the Golf with the ID.3 model if the need arises, as Golf once replaced the outdated Beetle model. Smaller Volkswagen cars with ID.1 and ID.2 names and larger models from ID.4 to ID.9 are also expected. In total, the ID.3 models offer three battery capacities. The lowest (45 kWh) charge will cover 330 km, and the maximum (77 kWh) - up to 550 km according to the WLTP standard. The car offered during pre-booking will be able to cover 420 km (according to WLTP) on a single charge. The car has an extremely low coefficient of drag of 0.267 and a turning radius of 10.2 meters. All this signals that this car must be a popular city car. And indeed, there are no reasons yet why ID.3 could not become such.
