Named after the Toyota Celica, the hugely popular Toyota coupes and convertibles are made with 4-cylinder engines. The new model is very different from the older design - it became round, with curved lines, which was quite unusual at the time. As a result, the car does not look very old even today. Drivers also appreciate the car’s cornering ability and typical Toyota durability. A powerful version of the turbo GT-Four with an intercooler was also produced. The GT-Four for the JDM market has 225 hp (165 kW) and 304 Nm of torque with a sportier injection system and ceramic turbine. All power is transferred to the continuous 4WD all-wheel drive system. The car is easy to operate even at high speeds, is attractive, but also has drawbacks - a small rear seat, weak non-turbo engines.
The most powerful was the turbo GT-Four version with intercooler. This GT-Four for the JDM market has 225 hp (165 kW) and 304 Nm of torque.

This generation Toyota Celica was used as a rally car at the World Rally Championship (WRC), where in 1992 (Carlos Sainz), 1993 (Juha Kankkunen) and 1994 (Didier Auriol) won the titles of driver champions, and in 1993 and 1994 also the designers' standings.
