The new Toyota 4Runner is built on the same platform as the Toyota FJ Cruiser and competes with models such as the Nissan Pathfinder, Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Explorer. The new SUV has become taller, wider and longer, and strives to combine the features of a true SUV with a daily comfortable ride through the city streets, safety with sophistication. But don't be fooled - this car is primarily designed for off-road driving or drowning out massive trailers. The 4Runner is available with both dual and all-wheel drive systems, complete with a 4.0-liter V6 VVT-i engine developing 270 hp and five-speed automatic transmissions. Until 2010, the Toyota 4Runner was also produced with a weaker four-cylinder 2.7-liter engine that was only equipped with two-wheel drive. Versions with a third row of seats are available, allowing seven people to travel.
