In 2007, Subaru introduced the new Impreza. Looking at the new car, it becomes clear that Subaru is trying to attract as much of the general public as possible by offering a more conventional form of car. The design of the hatchback resembling a monovolume is radically different from the previous sedan type. Subaru seems to be trying to break away from the image of a “street racer” and focus on the practical family car market. Meanwhile, the main competitor Mitsubishi Lancer is moving in the opposite direction - continuing to develop a more aggressive sedan-type body. The new Impreza is 50mm shorter than its previous version, but wider and has a longer wheelbase, so it can offer more legroom for the rear passengers. The bonnet is made of aluminum, and the lower total number of body parts is a novelty in the production of Subaru bodies. So it should come as no surprise that this body is used in the production of rally cars. Inside, the new materials look less plastic, of better quality. Also, for the first time, Impreza door windows have frames to improve the rigidity of the car. So the car is definitely a step forward and how buyers will appreciate it all will show in the near future.
