The exterior of the Rover 600 is designed by Rover under the Honda Accord. The basic structure and most of the engineering solutions were taken from Honda - the 1.8, 2.0 and 2.3 liter 4-cylinder engines were also taken from Honda. However, the 2.0 L turbodiesel engine was developed by Rover. The interior of the 600 had wood and chrome inserts, as well as a relatively high level of equipment, but little room for the legs of the rear passengers. The chassis created by Honda has been criticized as comfortable but unsportsmanlike. This Rover was significantly cheaper than the BMW 3 or Mercedes-Benz C class in the same class, so it was popular. Six years later, the Rover 600 was replaced by the retro-style Rover 75, developed under the BMW wing.
