The Renault Espace is a famous minivan whose 1st to 3rd generations were designed and manufactured by Matra companies and sold under the Renault brand. Renault calls the Espace the world's first monovolume, but Chrysler introduced a similar van to the market a few months earlier and was the most famous monovolume in North America. Still, the Espace is the first such car to have an easily configurable interior and a typical monovolume design today. The third-generation Espace has a radar futuristic interior, with the main devices - speedometer, tachometer and others - located in the center of the front panel.
