The heavily revamped Espace was launched in 1991 with a more modern Renault-specific design. While it wasn’t a brand new model, it had not only an updated exterior but also a new dashboard.
In 1995, Renault introduced a very interesting showcar called the Espace F1, developed in collaboration with Matra. The car was designed to commemorate both the 10th anniversary of Espace and the 10th anniversary of Renault's participation in the prestigious F1 race. This extraordinary vehicle was a faster F1 car than an Espace minivan. It had an ultra-light carbon fiber chassis and body, and a 3.5-liter 40-valve F1 Renault RS5 V10 engine. The data for this "station wagon" is as follows: 800 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 2.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 312 km / h. Impressive ceramic brakes allow this F1 Espace to accelerate from 0-270 km / h and come to a complete stop within 600 meters. This version of Espace was introduced in the video game Gran Turismo 2.
