The small, highly successful Porsche Boxster, which has been in production for more than twenty years, has reached its fourth generation. Despite many years of production, there are still very few small two-seater convertibles with a mid-mounted engine on the market. In fact, in addition to the Boxster there is another Lotus Elise and it seems everything. So the Boxster will remain a popular choice without a sharp rise in price in the future. Along with the new generation, the Boxster and its allied Cayman coupe have been renamed the Porsche 718, linking these models to the small sports Porsche 718 racing cars that won the Targa Florio race in 1959 and 1960. Although with a small 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, these sports cars have won thanks to their extremely good handling characteristics. So the name 718 also means that the new Boxster and Cayman models are now equipped with four-cylinder instead of six-cylinder opposition engines, which will certainly not delight fans of the brand. The new engines, on the other hand, are no longer atmospheric but turbo, so engine power has only increased and economy has improved. The standard model has a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 296 hp, while the S model uses variable geometry turbine (VTG) technology, increasing the power to 345 hp. To avoid disappointing fans of the brand, Porsche still left the option of purchasing a model with an atmospheric six-cylinder engine - a GTS model with 4.0 liters and a really solid 394 hp. The most powerful version of the GT4 has the same 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine, only with an extra 20 hp, as well as a sportier suspension and a different aerodynamics package. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.2 seconds, which is an extremely good result.
