The Peugeot 207 is a supermini-class car that was the best-selling car in Europe in 2007 (according to JATO Dynamics). The 207 is designed to replace the Peugeot 206, but Peugeot decided to keep the 206 in production until 2010 because the car was extremely popular. The 207 is built on a modified Citroen C3 platform with three- or five-door hatchback and coupe / convertible bodies. A GTI version with a 175 hp (130 kW) turbo 1.6 liter engine was also introduced. It is believed that the 207 can be used as a base for a WRC car given that its predecessor, the 206, has been very successful in this championship. However, the PSA Group (Peugeot-Citroen) already has an indefinitely successful model participating in the WRC Championship - the Citroen C4 (formerly the Citroen Xsara).
