The new Peugeot supermini car 206 replaced the legendary 205 model in 1998. The 206 was very successful commercially and became the best-selling car in Peugeot’s history. It was the most popular car in Europe from 2001 to 2003. The car was produced with a variety of bodies, including the 206 CC (Coupe Convertible) with a folding steel roof and the 206 SW station wagon, which appeared in 2001. The 206 CC immediately became known as the “female car” with only 12% of male buyers. The most powerful version was dedicated to the WRC Championship and was introduced in 2003 as the Peugeot 206 WRC (GTi 180 in the UK). This car had a 180 hp (130 kW) engine, accelerating from 0-100 km / h in 7.4s and reaching a top speed of 220 km / h. Peugeot was a great success at the WRC (World Rally Championship) with the 206 model and won both the manufacturers 'and drivers' championships with Marcus Gronholm in 2000. In total, the Peugeot 206 has won two driver championships in 2000 and 2002 and three manufacturer championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
