In 2017, Opel introduced a completely new model - the compact crossover Crossland X. At the same time, the company introduces the “X” designation, which means a model with increased throughput. The larger Opel Grandland X has the same designation and replaces the outdated Opel Antara. The new Crossland X is built on a modified PSA Group platform, which is also used in the Citroen C3 Picasso and Peugeot 2008 cars. The newcomer is positioned by the company as replacing the car with the Opel Meriva minivan. This is because SUVs and ultra-compact crossovers have become very popular lately, so they often replace the SUVs (as happened with the Peugeot 5008). In principle, there is no big difference between a former compact monovolume and a current crossover, as small crossovers can in no way claim the SUV name because they don’t have a more serious four-wheel drive system, and sometimes they don’t at all. However, the crossover is extremely comfortable to drive and the new Crossland X can be equipped with a range of safety and comfort features such as: Adaptive Forward Lighting AFL, LCD display inside, 180-degree panoramic rear view camera with parking system (Advanced Park Assist), emergency braking, line crossing, blind spots, sign recognition and pedestrian detection.
