The Mercedes-Benz A is a subcompact class car produced with three- or five-door hatchback bodies and is the smallest Mercedes. The second-generation car did not introduce radical changes, it is rather an evolutionary model. New sharper-design headlights stand out, with many electronic innovations inside, and the luggage compartment enlarged by 15 percent. This Mercedes, like its predecessor, has a frontal shock absorption system called a "sandwich." In the event of a frontal impact, the car’s engine and gearbox sink under the floor, not into the passenger compartment. The car has a standard ESP electronic stability system, a number of airbags (including for rear passengers), an active head protection system and more. The most powerful A200 variant has a turbo engine with 193 hp (144 kW) and 280 Nm of torque, the most powerful diesel variant A200 CDI has 140 hp (104 kW) and 300 Nm of torque.
