The McLaren F1 is a unique sports triple car designed and built by Gordon Murray and McLaren Automotive. Only 106 cars were produced. This supercar is designed using the highest F1 car technology to be the fastest production car in the world. In 1994, the McLaren F1 officially became the fastest car in the world, reaching an incredible speed of 386.4 km / h, which was only improved in 2005 (!) By the Swedish Koenigsegg CCR. To date (January 2009), it is the fastest car in the world with an atmospheric engine. Engine - 6.1 liter BMW S70 60 ° V12 powerplant. This car was inspired by the amazing Honda NSX model. Gordon Murray, the developer of the McLaren F1, who himself drove the Honda NSX for 7 years, was captivated by the car’s handling, impeccable quality and titanium reliability. At the time, F1 champion McLaren’s team with Ayrton Senna at the forefront used Honda engines. As a result, the McLaren F1 had to use a Honda engine, but another, more powerful variant, the BMW S70, was chosen. However, the Honda NSX remained the main reference point for McLaren F1 developers. McLaren F1 data: 627 hp (467 kW) / 7400 rpm power, 651 Nm / 5600 rpm torque, red speed limit 7500 rpm. The McLaren F1 reaches a top speed of 372 km / h, accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 3.6 s, from 0-100 mph (160 km / h) in 6.7 s. The McLaren F1 weight distribution is 42% for the front and 58% for the rear. The car is capable of generating 0.86 G of overload when the Saleen S7 generates 0.99 G, the Ferrari Enzo 1.01 G and the Koenigsegg CC 1.15 G. The slalom is beaten by McLaren at 103.8 km / h, braking - from 60-0 miles per hour the car stops 39 meters away, Saleen S7 for 38 m, Ferrari Enzo for 33 m, Koenigsegg CC for 32 m (all these competitors made after 2000). Today, the McLaren F1 remains one of the fastest production cars in the world, second only to the Koenigsegg CCR, Bugatti Veyron and SSC Ultimate Aero TT.
Only 106 McLaren F1 cars were produced.

Due to the fact that the carbon fiber used in the car body required very good insulation of the heat emitted by the engine, the engine cover was covered with a gold film. Each car consumes about 16 g of gold.
