McLaren Artura, 2021 - present
With this model, McLaren is fighting for the title of "greenest" supercar, along with its closest competitors, Porsche and Ferrari. The new McLaren model is not just a hybrid car, but most importantly it is the company’s first model with a six-cylinder engine. In this way, McLaren presents the "earthest" car in its range, which can travel a considerable distance of 30 miles with the help of an electric motor alone. The aerodynamic shape of the car is designed not so much to create high clamping force at high speeds, but to reduce air resistance and thus fuel consumption. At the front, the car looks typical of a McLaren, at the rear, too. Nothing special unless the large air vents on the sides of the car indicate that the cooling center is fitted with an engine, albeit a small one with even two turbines. McLaren Artura has a 2993 cm3 V6 aluminum motor coupled to an electric motor. The total power of both engines is 680 hp (500 kW) at 7500 rpm, the total torque is 720 Nm at 2250 rpm. Separately, the internal combustion engine generates 585 hp (430 kW) of power and 584 Nm of torque, while the electric engine adds another 95 hp (70 kW) and 225 Nm. Thanks to a compact electrical system that weighs just 130 kg including the battery, as well as lightweight composite materials, the Artura weighs just 1395 kg. This is a significant advantage over the nearest competitor Ferrari SF90 Stradale, which weighs all 1570 kg. The true Ferrari engine is a larger displacement V8 configuration. Inside, the McLaren Artura broadcasts a slightly different message than the company's other models - the instrument panel here is less archaic and "roughly" designed than in other McLaren cars. It is dominated by round, sleek shapes and a large practical driver-facing LCD display mounted on the center console. Such a passenger-friendly McLaren interior, combined with the most economical engine, will allow McLaren Artura to be applied to a wider audience of buyers.
