In 1993, the Mazda 626 underwent major changes. As it was built on a new GE platform (like the Mazda Cronos), the car grew significantly and became a mid-range model, in addition to composing new engines. The manufactured sedan and hatchback featured a new rounded design, plenty of space inside, and the new transmission was supposed to give the driver a sportier feel. The car has many common components with the sportier Mazda MX-6 and Ford Probe. Wheels magazine named the car Car of the Year. The 626 model was produced with both a 4-cylinder and a 2.5-liter V6 engine. The car is pleasant to drive, comfortable, not bad to drive, quite reliable and economical. Disadvantages - poor sound insulation, quality of interior materials and problems with automatic transmission.
