Land Rover Defender, 2019 - present
30 years - we almost had to wait until we got the new Defender. It’s a Land Rover legend and beyond - it’s one of the most memorable cars in British automotive history. Defender's creators have made sure that its angled silhouette doesn't go away, and some of the stylistic details of its predecessors have been retained in the car's interior, such as the mounting bolts and steel body structure elements that can be seen here and there. And yet we wouldn’t say that the SUV is instantly recognizable as a Defender model. While the closest competitors such as the new Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes-Benz G-Class or Suzuki Jimny have retained the most distinctive design features, the Defender’s front lacks the large radiator grille and round headlights that have adorned the classic Defender models for decades. Indeed, the company missed a good opportunity to release the new Defender with an angled design, as this style is now in high demand, and Land Rover recently introduced a range of round, stylish models (including the rounded legendary Discovery), so a different stylistic model was just what you expected. to the range of this manufacturer. Short and long base versions and specialized modifications are produced. They all have a panoramic roof with roof-mounted windows, a Land Rover-style roof rack and a side-opening tailgate with a spare wheel fitted. Inside, the car successfully combines quality with tradition. Here we find a front panel where you can put various items in or stick behind. But don’t forget the conveniences of the 21st century, such as the infosystem being controlled via an LCD screen. The gear lever is located on the front panel, and the third seat in the center is installed in the free space in the center. The ground clearance of the new SUV can be set up to 291 mm, and the suspension geometry is such that the front, center (breakover) and rear (departure) angles are 38, 28 and 40 degrees, respectively. The Defender can overcome a 900 mm deep barge, and the Terrain Response 2 system also includes an electronic barge overcoming assistant. For off-road and travel enthusiasts, the SUV will offer a remote-controlled electric winch, a tent on the roof, inflatable roofs and extra luggage bags. It should not be forgotten that the Defender can carry a load of 300 kg on the roof, tow a trailer weighing 3500 kg, and so on.
