The all-new Kia Magentis debuted at the 2010 New York Auto Show. The machine is built using the same platform as the new Hyundai Sonata model. With the new model, the company hopes to exceed people’s expectations for the ever-growing Korean brand. The car looks really impressive - extremely athletic, sporty and continues a similar design line to other Kia models - such as the Kia Forte, Kia Sorento, Kia Sportage and Kia Cadenza. The author of the Magentis design is Peter Schreyer, the new head of Kia's design division. The car has an exclusive radiator grille representing the Kia brand, and following the latest sedan fashions, the Magentis lines are very similar to coupe cars with a well-designed sloping roofline, “muscular” wheel arch lines, BMW M-Series side cavities in the wings, LED front lights and other sports lights. nature-emphasizing attributes. The front end of the car, also known as the “Tiger Face,” won’t mix with other brands, the rear part is somewhat reminiscent of a Ford Mondeo, but the overall look is really solid, distinctive and obviously appealing to the level of higher-end cars. In addition, the new Magentis is longer, wider and lower than its predecessor, and features a longer wheelbase, larger cabin and luggage space. Kia believes that Magentis has the best safety and luxury equipment in Europe when competing with the Ford Mondeo, Honda Accord, Opel Insignia and VW Passat. Like its sister Hyundai Sonata, the Magentis is equipped with a GDI 2.4 L 200 hp four-cylinder engine or a 2.0 L 274 hp turbocharged unit. A hybrid version of this model is also offered, consisting of a 2.4 L 169 hp petrol engine and a 40.2 hp electric motor. In Europe, the 2.0 L 184 hp turbodiesel will complement the range already fitted to the new Kia Sportage. 6-speed automatic or manual gearboxes available. The Magentis with a coupe body is expected to appear in 2011. The car will be powered by a 4-cylinder 2.4 L displacement engine capable of developing 200 hp. Also, buyers looking for more power will surely be pleased with the turbocharged 2L displacement engine, which develops as much as 274 hp.
