In 1994, a new Mustang project called the SN-95 was introduced. Ford has developed a completely redesigned car on the Fox platform with elements similar to the early Mustangs. The new model has improved handling, noise and vibration insulation, and a MacPherson-type suspension at the front. The interior is undergoing major changes, using a “dual cab” design with smooth transition lines and curves similar to other Ford models such as the Thunderbird. In 1999, the Mustang was revamped using a Ford-promoted New Edge design with sharper lines, with larger wheel arches hiding the round lines of the previous model, but the roof line and interior remained the same.
Fans of this generation of Mustang have had to wait as long as 15 years.

The most powerful version of the Mustang is the Cobra R with a 5.8-liter Windsor V8 engine with 300 hp (220 kW).
