The new Dodge Durango, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, is manufactured in the same factory. These two cars share not only the production line, but also the engines, gearboxes, and chassis parts. The Durango’s wheelbase is longer than the Jeep Grand Cherokee, so it accommodates as many as three rows of seats. The car is equipped with one of two engines - a basic 3.6-liter V6 engine with 290 hp (220 kW) and 350 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. 90% of the torque is maintained in the range from 1600 to 6400 rpm. This engine is equipped with Mercedes-Benz's five-speed automatic transmission. Another engine is the well-known 5.7-liter Hemi VVT V8 engine in the Americas with 360 hp (270 kW) and 530 Nm of torque, which is also mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. This engine has a fuel saving function - cylinder shutdown mode. This feature is typically used when driving in steady cruise mode, without increasing the load on the engine.
