Already the fourth generation of the BMW X5, codenamed G05, is made using the BMW CLAR platform used in the recently introduced Seventh Series G11 and Fifth Series G30 models. The new X5 has become 36mm longer, 66mm wider and 19mm taller than its predecessor. The SUV has a five-lever rear multi-link suspension, complete with all-wheel drive mechanism and a pneumatically adjustable suspension that can be raised or lowered by 40 mm. Externally, the car has changed little - the profile has remained the same, and the biggest changes are the increased front radiator grille and the completely new design of the taillights, which are now similar to the newly introduced third-series BMW. Dynamics are provided by the smoothly embedded body lines passing through the sides of the car. All these changes did not spoil the overall impression - it is a perfectly recognizable BMW X5 that customers liked many years ago. The newcomer's interior has also changed little - the same driver-oriented front panel made of high-quality materials has logically arranged and easy-to-understand controls. Only the instrument panel no longer has the traditional round BMW dials, instead we see a configuration similar to the one used by Peugeot where the turn arrow moves in the opposite direction - it will take some time to get used to. This was done to place navigation readings between the two main dials. The BMW Infosystem can be operated in a variety of ways, from by turning or touching the wheel in the center console, using the buttons on the steering wheel, via the touch screen, as well as by voice and gestures. The car has an interesting feature - when maneuvering at low speeds in a parking lot, for example, in order to reverse, it is possible to activate the reverse mode, which will autonomously control the steering wheel when maneuvering backwards. On top of all that, the BMW X5 has a great 3D parking system, a Harman Kardon sound system, laser lights, can be opened with the help of a phone, and so on. The SUV has become even more practical - slightly larger than its predecessor, the tailgate has been split in two and the hook is now powered by electric motors. The cabin is rich in USB connections, capacious storage for various items and water bottles, and the cup niches on the front can be both cooled and heated.
