The new BMW M5 meets us with a slightly different philosophy. Yes, it remained a large and comfortable sedan, so it's more aggressive than the "civilian" five, so they're damn powerful and fast. However, this time its engine displacement was reduced, two out of ten cylinders were removed, and two turbines were installed. Abandoning the high-revving V10 engine used in the last-generation model, BMW has developed a two-cylinder smaller but more powerful V8 engine. Power increased from 507 to 552 hp. Even better knowledge that this power is achieved at lower speeds. The old one reached maximum power at 7750 rpm, while the new one does so in the range of 6000 to 7000 rpm. The speed limitation starts at 7200 rpm. The torque has increased even further - the new M5 will have as much as 681 Nm (the previous generation M5 had 519 Nm) and these figures will be kept in the speed range from 1500 to 5750 rpm. All in all, we have a car with a Twin Scroll turbocharger, High Precision fuel injection system, Valvetronic valve control, maximum 305 km / h. Speed (with M-drivers package), acceleration up to 100 km / h. in 4.4 s and acceleration to 200 km / h. in 13 s. Now the V8 engine "plays" a slightly different, quieter note than the roaring V10. Loyal fans will like a different M5 engine philosophy, but the advantages are obvious: 10% more power, 30% more torque and a 31% reduction in fuel consumption (9.9 liters compared to the previous 14.4 liters per 100 km). The arguments are important. When driving a car on 6 tracks at 1000 rpm, the car has a large power reserve, which is similar to the behavior of diesel engines. BMW offers two gearboxes - a standard two-clutch automatic, but customers are left with the option to order the M5 with a classic manual gearbox. It differs from the standard BMW 5 Series with large front air intakes, four muffler exhaust holes, uniquely designed 20-inch rims (with 265/35/20 front and 295/30/20 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires) and wider wings. . Inside the car are some subtle differences and undoubtedly comfortable sports seats. The differences are small, but they are not important to us. More importantly, the heavy sedan, which weighs as much as 1945 kg, overcomes the famous Nürburgring race track in 7:55, which corresponds to the time of the Ferrari F430. Another surprise is the car's ability to be extremely comfortable - just switch the shock absorber settings to the most comfortable level and you will drive more comfortably than with any other BMW 5 Series. You can save all chassis settings at the touch of a button, much like saving a radio station you like. Tire and wind noise is almost non-existent. But the brute power of the BMW M5 is always close to you - the sound of the engine and the BOV valve won't let you forget.
