BMW 3 Series, 2019 - present
This is the new BMW 3 Series claiming to retain the title of best-selling premium sedan. Like humans, we accept a car by its appearance. Here we see the designers' efforts to maintain the excellent proportions of almost all BMW thirds and to add something new at the same time. We’re not sure if they managed to do that. The car looks attractive and really solid, but seems to lack completeness or a seamless idea. While the car’s profile has remained just as dynamic, the other details don’t seem to fit perfectly. We see the shapeless radiator grille and the front bumper overloaded with lines and details. To give dynamism, the designers have added a few lines running through the sides of the car, but they don’t fit the recesses of the round door handles. The headlights have become more dynamic and recognizable as a typical BMW, while the rear lights are more restrained and look as if they were not designed for a non-BMW car. The line of side rear windows, where the charming BMW canteen has been abandoned and has now become triangular, is also questionable. After all, it was like a BMW brand characteristic of BMW sedans of all time ... Maybe this is just the first impression, but we think that such a "fussy" design is better executed by Lexus developers. The new BMW 3 Series has become a bit lighter, bigger, the center of gravity lowered by 10 mm, the body has become 50% stiffer and more aerodynamic, the suspension is more comfortable, the interior is quieter and, thanks to its longer base and more spacious. And it is still perfectly managed! The newcomer's interior has changed little - the same driver-oriented front panel made of quality materials has logically arranged and easy-to-understand controls. Only the instrument panel no longer has the traditional round BMW dials, instead we see a configuration similar to the one used by Peugeot where the turn arrow moves in the opposite direction - it will take some time to get used to. This was done to place navigation readings between the two main dials. The car has an interesting feature - when maneuvering at low speeds in a parking lot, for example, in order to reverse, it is possible to activate the reverse mode, which will autonomously control the steering wheel when maneuvering backwards. The BMW Infosystem can be operated in a variety of ways, from by turning or touching the wheel in the center console, via the touch screen, as well as by voice and gestures. The car can be asked to distract from sleep or calm down after stressful situations. In a word, current cars have so many interesting smart technologies that without instructions for use kogero no way. There is no doubt that this is a technically excellent car. Therefore, in all respects, the new BMW of the third series is trying to take the place of the larger BMW of the fifth series. Maybe it's not bad, but for all those who want a compact sports and luxury sedan, BMW will have to offer a BMW 2 Series sedan, which we will soon see and see.
