Cult car. The Audi RS2 Avant is a limited range sports car made exclusively with a station wagon. It was designed jointly with Porsche. This is the first in the famous RS series to have the most powerful of the 5-cylinder turbo engines. This car is seen as one that has finally established the Audi brand as a manufacturer of powerful sports cars. The body of the station wagon, the permanent all-wheel drive system allows this car to be used on a daily basis. The 2.2-liter 20-valve turbo 5-cylinder engine has 315 hp (232 kW) / 6500 rpm. This engine has been greatly improved by Porsche, replacing the standard KKK turbocharger with a larger one, adding an intercooler, higher-flow fuel injectors, a low-pressure exhaust system and a new engine-controlled ECU computer. With this power, the RS2 was able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 262 km / h (limited by electronics) despite a whopping 1600 kg. The British car magazine Autocar has calculated that the RS2 accelerates from 0 to 48 km / h in just 1.5 seconds - faster than the McLaren F1 supercar and as much as the Jacque Villeneuve F1 car of the time! Even by modern standards, the dynamics of the RS2 are exceptional - it can easily race the C5-generation Chevrolet Corvette and was only a tenth of a second slower than the 996-generation Porsche 911. The braking system uses Porsche-designed Brembo brakes and the side mirrors were identical to the 911 Turbo. There is a lot to be said for this unique car. Approximately 2,200 RS2 units were to be produced, but due to high demand, more were produced - 2,891 units.
