Alfa Romeo Tonale, 2022 - present
Alfa Romeo Tonale is the first compact hybrid crossover in the company's history. Smaller than the not-so-recent Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Tonale is on a well-known path. Therefore, the name of the new SUV was not chosen by chance - according to the name of the Tonale Pass, which is close to the larger Stelvio Pass. The car makes its debut with several different modifications: 128 hp or 158 hp light hybrid versions, or a charge of up to 271 hp. The newcomer will compete in a hugely popular segment in Europe with extremely strong competitors, but the key to Tonale’s success is the new car-powered hybrid power plant. It consists of just a 1.3-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with a turbocharger that is assembled with a six-speed automatic transmission. The electric power plant consists of a 15.5 kWh battery with a rear-mounted electric motor. The total power is as high as 271 hp, allowing 0-100 km / h. to be reached in 6.2 seconds. Powered by all four wheels, the Tonale Plug-in Hybrid Q4 weighs as much as 1,900 kg, but this alone does not prevent it from covering 80 km. The battery of this Tonale is charged in two and a half hours using a 7.4 kW charger. The modern four-wheel drive eAWD system is designed so that power is transmitted to the rear wheels not by the PTO shaft but by the electric motor alone. This allows the axles to be separated and the torque to be distributed more precisely between them than when using mechanical components. Next to the PHEV option is a pair of front-wheel-drive 1.5-liter turbobenzine hybrid units using a 48-volt electrical system. The 130 Hybrid version has 128 hp and the 160 Hybrid has a variable geometry turbine and a power output of 158 hp.
